RHA 250 - Security Administration

Audience

Linux or UNIX system administrators who already have some real world experience with Red Hat Linux systems administration and want a first course in networking services.

Assumed Knowledge

Red Hat Linux Computing Essentials ~ RHA130 or equivalent experience with Red Hat Linux and LAN/WAN fundamentals or equivalent; Internetworking with TCP/IP or equivalent. To assist you in determining whether you have equivalent experience, take the Pre-assessment Questionnaire.

Aim

To become a capable security administrator.

Objectives

Students learn to implement and administer basic security policies relating to user authentication (including PAM and NIS) and securing network applications using application level access control and kernel level firewalling (ipchains). Students additionally learn skills in administering SELinux, system monitoring, and implementing common encryption protocols (including public key infrastructures).
